Swiss Post has acquired the remaining 50% stakes in Direct Mail Company AG and Direct MailLogistik AG respectively to strengthen its position in its core business of direct marketing.
The Swiss postal operator has already held a 50% stake in both companies since 1996. Even afterthe takeover, the postal operator will continue operating the DMC Group as an independent companyand also the partnership in the SDM association (swissdirectmail). The takeover will have no effecton customers and employees. The details of the transaction, which was completed on 6 January 2012with retroactive effect from 1 January 2012, have not been disclosed.
Swiss Post stressed that the market for the delivery of unaddressed mail and free newspapers ishighly competitive.
Headquartered in Basel, the DMC Group offers products and services in the area of directmarketing and delivery of unaddressed items. The DMC Group comprises Direct Mail Company AG, DirectMail Logistik AG and IN Media AG.
The DMC Group employs 135 full-time and some 2,500 part-time employees across Switzerland at itssites in Lausanne, Biel, Thun, Zurich, Domat/Ems and Niederbipp.
