DPD grows fast in shrinking Swiss market

DPD Switzerland has announced that its parcel volumes and revenues hit record highs in 2024, with out-of-home (OOH) delivery and B2C trade driving growth, while the wider market declined, it noted.

Last year the delivery firm handled 24.8 million parcels – up from 18.7 million in 2023 – while its revenue increased by almost 30% year-on-year (YoY). According to DPD, it defied trends in the Swiss parcel market, which saw volumes decline last year.

One of its main competitors, Swiss Post, for example, experienced a 2.9% YoY decline in parcel volumes in 2024.

C2X platform

DPD Switzerland also revealed that it plans to launch its own C2X platform this year to offer private individuals and small businesses “a new parcel delivery service.” No more details were provided about this new offering.

“DPD Switzerland is growing in a highly competitive and changing parcel market,” said Tilmann Schultze, CEO of DPD Switzerland. “Our investments in digitalisation, out-of-home offers, sustainability and our employees are paying off.

“Now we want to expand into the booming C2X market with new applications, embedded in the Geopost network with over 130,000 pickup points in Europe,” Schultze added.
