Posten Logistik buys Finnish logistics firm to continue Nordic growth

Posten Logistik, the parcel and freight logistics subsidiary of Swedish postal operator Posten, hasacquired Finnish logistics company Suomen Logistiikkatalo to continue its expansion in the Nordic

region and create new opportunities for flows between the Nordic and Baltic regions and Russia.

The newly-acquired Finnish logistics company operates in third-party logistics, and itscustomers deal in fast-moving consumer goods and spare parts. The new acquisition will make PostenLogistik one of the leading players within transport services and warehousing in Finland.
 
As Finland’s largest independent third-party logistics company, Suomen Logistiikkatalogenerated turnover of approximately SEK 110 million (EUR 11.71 million) in 2006. Based in Vantaa,it has 100 employees, four locations in total and around 100 business customers.

“Through the acquisition of Suomen Logistiikkatalo, we can offer a powerful alternativewithin third-party logistics and warehousing in the Finnish market,” said Henrik Höjsgaard, CEO ofPosten Logistik. “It also means that we will strengthen our Nordic presence even further.”
 
Through its subsidiaries and the franchise network DPD covering Sweden, Norway, Denmark andFinland, Posten Logistik already offers parcel, pallet and express services throughout the Nordicregion. It is currently setting up a parcels delivery network in Norway under the MyPack brand.

Posten Logistik, with 5,900 employees, had turnover of SEK 7.6 billion (EUR 809.3 million) in2006. In the first half of 2007, the company’s turnover grew 12% to SEK 4.1 billion (EUR 436.6million).
