France’s La Poste has become the ninth postal operator to join the Kahala Posts Group (KPG) whichaims to create an international mail and parcels delivery network.
La Poste president Jean-Paul Bailly signed an agreement at the alliance’s annual meeting inSan Francisco this week, the French post office announced. It is the ninth member of the alliance,and third European member after Royal Mail and Correos which joined KPG in December 2006.
The alliance was founded by six postal operators (Australia Post, China Post, Hong Kong Post,Japan Post, Korea Post and the United States Postal Service) several years ago, and named after theHawaii location where they met. The six operators have since launched an upgraded, guarantee-basedinternational service between their respective countries and territories.
La Poste said that it aimed to benefit from a network guaranteeing a high level of servicequality in large markets such as the USA and Asia by sharing experience and tools. The KPG memberswould gain privileged access to the French market and new perspectives for partnerships, it added.
