Finland Post buys Norwegian freight forwarder

Finland Post announced today that it is to buy the privately-owned Norwegian logisticscompany Universal Spedisjon to complete its Nordic logistics network.

Universal Spedition AS, with 75 staff and net sales of approximately €44 million, operates fromterminals based in Oslo, Kristiansand, Stavanger, Trondheim and Bergen. It provides cargo,forwarding and contract logistics services in Norway and throughout Europe in collaborationwith partners.

The acquisition completes Finland Post Logistics’ logistics service network in its home marketsin the Nordic countries, Baltic Rim and Russia, and reinforces Finland Post Corporation’s positionas one of the leading logistics operators in Northern Europe. Last summer, the worldwide network ofthe Danish Combifragt Group A/S was integrated with Finland Post’s transport network via businessacquisitions, and the Swedish Roadlink AB followed in February 2006.

Finland Post Logistics provides comprehensive services from consulting to contract logistics,including transport services, warehousing and terminal services, forwarding and customs clearanceservices as well as IT solutions. It has net sales of €510 million and 1,400 staff in eightcountries.

This deal is subject to approval by the competition authorities in Norway.
