Swiss Post to offer digital letters service

More parcels but fewer physical letters to deliver (Source: Swiss Post)

Swiss Post has announced plans to introduce a hybrid letter delivery service, allowing customers to send and receive mail both physically and digitally, as the government seeks to update the post’s USO to meet the growing demands of a digital society.

The move follows the release of the Federal Council’s revision to the current Postal Act earlier this month. The revision includes proposed changes to the USO, including a requirement to offer a digital delivery channel, which complements the basic service without replacing physical delivery.

The revision of the Swiss Postal Act is available for consultation until August 6, 2025.
