InPost has snapped up struggling British parcel company Yodel for a bargain price in an ambitious ‘game-changing’ move to ‘leap ahead’ with combined doorstep and out-of-home locker deliveries under one brand in the highly competitive UK market.

According to the Polish group, the deal makes it into ‘the third-largest agnostic logistics player’ in the UK behind Royal Mail and Evri with an estimated 8% market share and a strong competitor to other leading parcel carriers such as DPD and DHL eCommerce.

Tripling in size

The £106 million acquisition of loss-making Yodel, which was already rumoured back in February, will triple InPost’s UK parcel volumes from 93 million last year to more than 300 million this year through its organic growth and the addition of Yodel’s 190 million annual parcels.

In parallel, its revenues look likely to triple to about £750 million (based on InPost 2024 and Yodel 2023 revenue figures) while its small workforce will grow exponentially with the addition of Yodel’s 10,000 workers.

“Pivotal milestone”
