Swiss Post Solutions UK, a subsidiary of Swiss Post, has been awarded a contract from theleading retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S) to provide mailroom, logistics and record management
services.Under the deal, Swiss Post Solutions will be responsible for mailroom operations at threeM&S London sites, including the retailer’s head office at Waterside House. The company will beprocessing over 40,000 items and 150 sacks of incoming mail and around 4,000 items and 140 sacks ofoutgoing mail each month at the head office. In addition, Swiss Post Solutions will take care ofall courier activity, press and food samples and deliveries of bulk facilities.
As an important part of the new operation, Swiss Post will review the present working methods toidentify and assess opportunities for switching from manual to more digital processes. The reviewwill identify where documents can benefit from being scanned and processed digitally to improve theway information is managed and used by M&S employees with the aim to deliver increased customercare and service to the company’s worldwide customer base. The replacement of physical paperhandling with automated processes will help speed up transaction times and reduce costs in asecure, compliant and auditable manner, Swiss Post Solutions explained.
A key part of the agreement includes logistics tasks that involve managing couriers and loadingbays at each of the sites with significant numbers of food, clothing and product samples passingthrough these areas. Swiss Post Solutions will also be in charge of archiving records and settingup meeting and function rooms.
