Finland Post officially dropped the word “post” from its name and re-branded to Itella on June 1 aspart of its ongoing diversification and expansion into new markets.
The company has renamed as Itella Corporation and the overall group has taken the name ItellaGroup. But the Posti brand is being retained for the domestic Finnish postal business.
The reason for the new name’s adoption lies in the group’s more diversified andinternationalised business operations: a wider range of logistics and information logisticsservices now supplements postal operations, the company explained. In addition to Finland, ItellaGroup operates in eight northern European countries and a quarter of its net sales come frominternational operations.
Postal services will remain the cornerstone of operations in Finland. Consumer services inFinland will remain under the familiar and reliable Posti brand, reflected in post offices, mailcarriers, mailboxes, consumer websites and consumer communication and marketing, Itella said.
Itella’s Northern European subsidiaries are also adopting the new corporate brand, withlogistics subsidiaries operating under Itella Logistics and IT subsidiaries under ItellaInformation names.
