Finland Post (“Posti”) has started to provide mail-order logistics in Latvia for four largeGerman mail-order companies, Quelle, Neckermann, Otto and BonPrix. Local distribution is being
provided by Latvia Post.The extensive service package covers the traffic of mail-order catalogues, order coupons,freight, parcels and return items between businesses and consumers, involving millions ofcatalogues and hundreds of thousands of parcels and rolltainers. The first deliveries were carriedout in November 2005.
Under the contracts, Finland Post collects goods arriving from across Europe fromthese mail-order companies’ Tallinn-based warehouses and delivers them to consumers in co-operationwith its partner, Latvia Post. Deliveries to Latvia represent the first-ever flows of goodsfully operated by Finland Post and not processed through its own production.
Finland Post said its strengths during contract negotiations lay in its highly advanced ITsolutions and its excellence in providing comprehensive service packages across national borders.Entry into new market areas, such as Russia, together with a single partner co-ordinatingoperations in several countries, worked out smoothly.
Providing comprehensive distance-selling solutions for the Nordic and Baltic markets, FinlandPost has the capability to manage all or part of the elements involved in the distance-sellingservice chain: selecting a target group, supplying an address register, printing or printing outdirect-mail materials, delivering direct mail, receiving orders, warehousing and delivering goods,and processing customer responses.
