trans-o-flex ThermoMed, the German specialist for temperature-controlled shipments, has launcheda special cost-effective service for pharmacies to ship their self-made products and pre-finished
medicine to other pharmacies and dispose of old medicaments.The new product ‘trans-o-flex ApoServ’ offers pharmacies a favourably priced, internet-baseddelivery solution to be booked online easily for correct and safe dispatch of their products. Inaddition, it provides the option of shipping and disposing of old medicaments.
“Pharmacies have an increasing demand for comfortable transportation of new and oldmedicaments,” said Kai Schmuck, sales & marketing director of trans-o-flex. This is due, amongother things, to last year’s decision to abolish the Germany-wide system of disposing old medicinewhich had been collected from the pharmacies for free.
“Today, pharmacies are no longer obliged to accept old medicaments from their customers,although many of them continue to do so as a customer service. As soon as larger quantities areinvolved, they then have to face the problem of proper disposal,” Schmuck explained.
trans-o-flex not only takes over the transportation of the old medications but also ensurestheir proper disposal in accordance with the legal provisions and provides the correspondingdisposal certificates. In order to offer the pharmacies the easiest and most cost-favourableservice possible, trans-o-flex has developed an internet-based collection solution.
“Using our new internet portal, the pharmacy sends a notification for the driver toautomatically collect the old medications, when he delivers the next shipment,” Schmuck added. “Instead of having to bring the parcels to a specific collection point, pharmacies can simply handthem over to our drivers”.
Upon receiving the pick-up order, the trans-o-flex data processing system automatically issuesan invoice on a monthly or biweekly basis depending on the shipping frequency. The charges for thetransportation and disposal are subject to transparent weight-based rates.
