Sony chooses trans-o-flex

trans-o-flex Germany has distributed over a quarter of a million of the new Sony Playstation3 videogame consoles in a large, top-security operation which it carried out in just two days.



“The job was carried out under the strictest security, due to the high value and hugepopularity of the goods,” said the group in a statement yesterday.

It said it completed “what must be the biggest single logistics order of 2007” with 99.85% ofshipments delivered on time.

Planning of the operation, organised by trans-o-flex logistics subsidiary TT Tour-Trans, tookfour months and nationwide distribution was via the trans-o-flex network, the group explained.

Just under a week before the start of sales, 27 containers from overseas, plus truckloads ofsoftware and accessories, arrived at the TT Tour-Trans Logistics Centre in Kerpen near Cologne.

The software, accessories and consoles were consolidated, partially order-related, andprepared in 2,150 shipments comprising 4,400 packages. The total weight of all shipments was 317tonnes, said trans-o-flex.
