The logistics strategies of top e-retailers, grocery e-commerce, challenges in domestic and European B2C deliveries, and innovative delivery solutions are among the key topics at a major e-commerce delivery conference in London next month.
Over 130 leaders from European retailers and logistics operators are expected to attend Marketforce’s conference on ‘The Future of E-Commerce Delivery’ on October 4, which is taking place for the fourth year.
Top retailers speaking at the conference include Paul Anastasiou, Senior Director Development Logistics Services for British supermarket group ASDA, Matthew Blomley, Head of Logistics Development for fashion e-retailer Zalando, and Dave Crellin, Head of Online Operations Development for Sainsbury’s.
Senior managers from the postal and parcel industry lined up to speak include Roger Morris, Head of Parcels at Royal Mail, Alberto Alves Pimenta, Director E-commerce at Portugal’s CTT and Stefan Luginbühl, Head of Courier, Express & Parcels at Swiss Post.
Cross-border deliveries will be the topic of presentations by Gunnar Henriksen, Executive Vice President Division E-Commerce at Norway Post, and Gunnar Adalberth, Director of Business Development for UPS Europe.
A panel discussion with some of these speakers will cover topics such as:
* What are the most significant barriers to cross-border e-commerce?
*Do existing international delivery options meet consumer needs?
*How will the Digital Single Market (DSM) impact cross-border e-commerce?
*How will Britain leaving the EU affect cross-border delivery?
*Are initiatives to improve interoperability between carriers reducing delivery costs?
*Is the industry doing enough to solve the challenges unique to SME retailers?
*Can the DSM be realised without an effective cross-border returns service?
*Beyond Europe: which markets offer the greatest opportunities?
Other issues covered during the one-day conference will include the potential of grocery e-commerce, 'putting customers in control', returns, parcel lockers, urban logistics and crowdsourced last-mile delivery.
