PostNord’s third-party logistics division (PostNord TPL) has inked an agreement to lease a new 46,000 sqm building at the Landvetter Logistics Centre adjacent to Gothenberg Airport.

The facility will open in two phases, with the first 20,000 sqm section operational by June 1, 2020, and the second section being ready for use ahead of peak season in autumn 2020.

In recent years, PostNord TPL has had very good growth in all regions, attracting new customers and deepening cooperation with existing ones. This positive trend is behind the decision to expand with the new facility in the logistics park at Gothenburg’s Landvetter Airport.

The planned facility will be developed by a joint venture between real estate developer Bockasjö and airport operator Swedavia, which also own the Landvetter Logistics Centre. The property is Green Building classified, with low energy consumption and will be prepared to be equipped with solar cells.

Mårten Koshko, business development manager at PostNord TPL, commented: “We have a close collaboration with and good experience of Bockasjö when it comes to new construction. Landvetter Logistics Centre was the player who could meet our wishes when it came to the size of the property and the timing.”

He continued: “We are in a strong phase of growth. Last year we established ourselves in Jönköping and built a new facility in Norrköping. Around the turn of the year we will take up a new property in Helsingborg and with this investment we will strengthen our presence in Gothenburg, one of Sweden's leading logistics locations.”

Although PostNord’s mail volumes continue to sag as fewer letters are sent, the group’s e-commerce and logistics division continues to grow rapidly.

Koshko added: “Our new establishment ensures the growth of existing customers but also enables competitive logistics solutions when it comes to new inquiries.”

Furthermore, the project will involve new hires. The exact need for staff is governed by the types of assignments that will be handled in the property, something that has not yet been decided.

Joakim Hedin, CEO, Bockasjö and CEO, Landvetter Logistics Centre, explained: “We are looking forward to the continued collaboration with PostNord TPL and that we will have the confidence to build another new logistics centre. This will be our third project together with PostNord TPL and our fifth with the PostNord Group.”

The Bockasjö Group develops and manages logistics properties in Sweden.
