NZ Post has announced that it will raise its rates for international parcels to compensate forthe increasing costs of these services.
“From 1 July the postage required to send packets and parcels overseas will increase – in mostinstances by 4% or less – to reflect the increasing costs of providing these services,” the postaloperator said. “International costs have been impacted by a number of factors including risingfuel, transportation, processing and other postal union costs.”
In addition, the international geographic zones for packets and parcels will also be redefinedfrom 1 July onwards with North America moving from Zone C, where it is currently grouped alongside ‘ East Asia’, to Zone D, alongside the UK and Europe. NZ Post explained that this ‘re-zoning’ willreflect the true costs of shipping parcels to the USA in a more realistic way.
The postage rates for mail delivery will not change in most cases including letters shippedwithin the country and overseas. The Standard Letter Rate for domestic mail will stay at 70 cents,NZ Post stressed.
However, the prices of New Zealand Post’s bulk mail services for businesses will be adjusted. “Business customers affected by these changes are being notified,” NZ Post added.
