InPost has unveiled big investments in its Polish network with new hubs and more lockers across the country.

The parcel lockers specialist, which already has more than 60 facilities in its home market, will add about a dozen new logistics hubs in Poland this year. They include a 9,000 sqm centre in Krakow and a 6,000sqm logistics centre at the Prologis Park in Chorzow, near Katowice.

Overall, the investment will give InPost an additional 100,000 sqm of floorspace to sort parcels for delivery to its network of more than 11,000 lockers and by courier. The bulk of the new facilities (75,000sqm) will be built by Panattoni.

In a separate move, InPost has started to build up a new 7,230 sqm ‘parcel locker factory’ at Krakow’s airport logistics park where it will assemble self-service terminals for deployment in Poland and other countries.

Meanwhile, in other recent moves in Poland, InPost has started installing parcel lockers at several Echo Investment residential buildings and will deploy refrigerated lockers for food and other temperature-sensitive goods at Auchan shopping centres.

The company has also sealed a ‘Green City’ agreement with municipal authorities in Lodz, involving installation of more parcel lockers and more electric InPost delivery vehicles.

InPost is set to expand substantially on the international front this year with the forthcoming acquisition of France’s Mondial Relay.
