Twelve months on from the opening of a 13,000m² warehouse at Wommelgem, Geodis Belgium has opened abrand-new logistics platform with a surface area of 10,000m² in Schoten, close to the port of
Antwerp.In a bid to tackle rising demand from its customers for logistics services, Geodis Belgiumhas opened a logistics platform in Schoten, near Antwerp. The new site’s current surface area is10,000m² but could be extended to twice that in the future.
The new European Logistics Centre will manage logistics services for around fifteencustomers, including air conditioning company Lennox.
It will provide the following services:
– receipt and unloading of sea containers (FCL and LCL) shipped in from Asia;
– customs clearance (bonded warehouse);
– added value services (kitting, customisation, etc.);
– order picking and European distribution via Geodis’ European groupage network.
A 10-person team has initially been recruited to run the new site, which will be managed byEric Michorius.
