FedEx signs up new Saudi Arabia partner

FedEx partners with Abdul Latif Jameel Group

FedEx Express has selected Abdul Latif Jameel Group as a new global service provider in SaudiArabia as of January 2015, for its international inbound and outbound services to and from 220

countries and territories.

Established in 1945, the Saudi company is a family-owned diversified business with some15,800 employees, dual headquarters located in Jeddah and Dubai, and a geographic footprint in 17countries in the Middle East, North Africa, Turkey, Asia-Pacific and Europe.

The group is best known for its core automotive operations and associated value chainbusinesses, originating in its appointment as an authorised distributor for Toyota in Saudi Arabiain 1955. Since then, it has diversified into financing, parts manufacturing, electronicsdistribution, advertising, media, and events. In 2012, the group further diversified into severalnew sectors, including energy, with an initial focus on renewables, and residential and commercialreal estate development within the MENAT region.

FedEx has been active in Saudi Arabia for more than 20 years and the selection of Abdul LatifJameel Group will allow FedEx to utilise the Saudi conglomerate’s deep market expertise to meetgrowing shipping needs. The country’s demand for international cargo is expected to grow by 5 percent and 7 to 8 per cent for air and sea cargo, respectively, through 2020.

According to the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA), more than US$100 billionof investment is anticipated within Saudi Arabia’s transportation and logistics sector over thenext 10 years, providing a natural catalyst for spurring international trade.
