Posten Norge (Norway Post) and Norway’s second largest grocery chain Coop have partnered to provide grocery deliveries to the homes of those who cannot go to stores during the current Covid-19 lockdown restrictions.

Geir Inge Stokke, CEO of Coop Norway, explained: “We see it as our duty to ensure a safe and good supply of groceries during this uncertain period. That is why we now make it possible to have groceries delivered to the door for those who need it most, including the elderly, the sick and those who are in quarantine.”

He added: “Coop has in record time set up a simple ordering solution on its website Coop.no. Through a collaboration agreement with Norway Post, those who need it can choose the option of home delivery and have the items delivered by Posten Norge.

“In the future, the service will be under continuous development in terms of usability, product selection, payment and delivery solutions.”

Tone Wille, CEO of Posten Norge, further commented: “This solution is the first of its kind to enable home delivery of groceries across the country. The solution has been tested in the Oslo area, and recently it has also been made available in Stavanger and parts of Western Norway.

“It is planned for the service to be available in future to Coop customers throughout the whole country.”

Coop operates 1,250 grocery stores as well as 120 department stores across Norway.
