Sisters of the Skies: pioneering UPS Airlines first officer Angel Hughes (pictured) wants to inspire more black women to enter the aviation industry - so that one day female black pilots will be the norm, not the exception.

Fewer than 1% of pilots in the U.S. are Black women at present. But since Angel co-founded the non-profit organization Sisters of the Skies in 2017, it has reached nearly 200 members and donated $500,000 in flight school scholarships to aspiring Black women aviators.

In her words: “UPS is doing a great job at recruiting people of color. One day being a Black female pilot will be the norm.”

Find out more about what UPS first officer Angel Hughes is doing to fuel the next generation of Black pilots in this inspiring video.
