Dutch technology company Prime Vision has equipped Austrian Post’s new parcels centre in Thalgau, in the state of Salzburg, with its software solution for automated parcel sorting.

As part of the long-term partnership between the two companies, Prime Vision’s video coding and image archiving solution OCR has already been replicated across multiple sites of the Austrian postal operator.

After proving its effectiveness at Austrian Post’s sorting centre in Vienna, the solution has been systematically rolled out nationwide. Thalgau is Austrian Post’s 10th hub to adopt Prime Vision’s OCR.

Prime Vision highlighted the scalability of its parcel sorting solution. “Austrian Post was one of our very first customers and over the years, we have built a very close relationship based on mutual trust and co-operation,” Prime Vision’s Account Director, Alexandra Ballestrem, explained.

“The flexibility of our concept makes it especially easy for us to add more sorting centres to the solution. It’s a great example of why open architecture systems are so important to dynamic postal operations. They allow easy and cost-effective upgrade and expansion.”

Austrian Post is already successfully operating Prime Vision’s OCR at the Thalgau facility. It is planned to deploy the solution for further hub transitions in 2021/2022.
