GLS ShopDelivery service goes cross-border between five European countries

GLS ShopDelivery goes cross-border

GLS is now offering its ShopDelivery service on a cross-border level between five Europeancountries: Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Austria and Poland.

The service, which has already been available in those countries on a domestic level, enablescustomers in the five countries to have their parcels delivered to a parcel shop of their choicecross-border in all directions. GLS has a combined network of around 8,000 parcel shops in thesefive countries for customers to choose from.

As soon as the parcel has arrived at the respective parcel shop, they will be informed viae-mail or SMS. The parcel will be kept at the parcel shop, ready for pick-up, for nine to ten days, depending on the country.

The service is especially suitable for people who are often en route and not at home. Faileddelivery attempts can thus be avoided as there is always somebody at the parcel shop to accept theparcel. These delivery options are also useful to supply mobile service personnel with materials orspare parts, GLS explained.

“Our customers are getting used to ordering from neighbouring countries and we are supportingthem with the appropriate solutions,” said Rico Back, GLS Group CEO. “We have our own delivery andparcel shop networks in the countries, which are now connected for the service IT-wise.”

GLS already offers its FlexDelivery service on a cross-border level between Germany, Austria,Belgium and the Netherlands. This service informs customers prior to delivery about the approximatedelivery timeslot during the day, and gives them the opportunity to change the date and the placeof delivery, if needed, even when the parcel is already on its way.
