Seur grows revenues and parcel volumes strongly in 2014

Leading Spanish parcel operator Seur increased its revenues by 5% to €564 million and parcelvolumes by 10% to more than 85 million parcels last year thanks to e-commerce and international

growth.

In 2014, Seur, in which GeoPost holds a 62% share, transported around 300,000 parcels dailyreaching up to 500,000 on peak days during the busy Christmas period.

The company explained that last year’s growth was mainly driven by e-commerce and internationaltrade, with sales rising by 20% to €120 million and by 16% to €110 million respectively.

In e-commerce, Seur continued offering customers innovative solutions and services. Ininternational trade, it has been integrating itself more and more into the international arenathanks to being part of the GeoPost Group with pioneering solutions such as the Predict service.These two areas accounted for 41% of Seur’s total revenues in 2014.

To cope with a volume increase of 10%, Seur invested €10 million in its infrastructure,operations and technology last year. The investments concerned, for example, the company’s fleetwhich was expanded by 8.5% to 3,800 vehicles. Technology investments were also considerable in 2014and allowed the firm to improve and further develop new, value-added services for customers.

Among these services is Seur Predict, which the company launched in 2013 and improved last year.The service, which is identical to DPD’s Predict service, informs customers in advance about aone-hour delivery time slot during which their online orders are delivered.

Another new service is Seur SunDay offering deliveries on Sundays as a ‘differentiating factoron the market’. “It simplifies deliveries that are made increasingly faster with more flexible timeschedules, as part of the 24/7 online environment,” the company said.

In addition, Seur SameDay was launched providing delivery on the same day in Madrid, with otherareas to be added in the near future.

Moreover, the company has strengthened its workforce with new fixed contracts in 2014 increasingthe number of employees to 6,400. During the Christmas season, Seur posted a new record with 1,300temporary contracts to cope with the rising demand during the peak period.

Seur has a network of 81 depots and counts 1,000 parcel shops, the so-called PUDO’s at localstores (pick-up and drop-off points).
