TNT has launched daily flights to provide same-day deliveries to Tel Aviv with the new freighterservice operating between the second-largest city of Israel and TNT’s air hub in Liege, Belgium,
five times a week on workdays, in response to increasing demand.Starting this month, the Liege – Tel Aviv route will be flown on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays,Thursdays and Fridays with a Boeing 737-400. The flight from Liege arrives in Tel Aviv in themorning for same-day deliveries and departs in the evening, enabling pick up and same-day exportbefore the end of the business day.
TNT explained that it will bring several benefits to customers including fixed departure times,guaranteed uplift, later pick-up times in Israel and a smooth connection to TNT’s internationalroad and air networks via Liege.
In addition, the service will enable TNT to shorten transit times for express shipments to andfrom Tel Aviv by one day.
Martin Sodergard, TNT’s Managing Director Network Operations confirmed: “With this flightoperated by TNT, our customers will benefit from improved delivery reliability, as well as latercut-off times for pick-ups thanks to improved departure times. It also gives us additional capacityto further grow our business in and out of Israel.”
The EU is the largest trading partner for Israel with total trade amounting to approximately €29billion in 2013. Typical shipments that TNT transports to and from the country include machinery,electronic products, medical equipment and textiles.
This latest expansion is part of the company’s Outlook strategy as it is working on combiningits extensive European road network with a stronger international air network. Recently, TNT hasexpanded its road express services to Turkey and the Balkan countries (Bulgaria, Kosovo), and addedHannover and Venice to the European air network.
