UPS opens contract logistics facility for Seagate Technology in Thailand

UPS has opened a new contract logistics facility in Thailand dedicated to its major customerSeagate Technology offering fully integrated logistics solutions including delivery of small

parcels, freight and contract logistics services, as well as technology solutions.

The contract logistics warehouse is situated next to Seagate’s Korat plant in Amphur Sungnoen,Nakhonratchasima Province in the north-east of Thailand. It will operate around the clock doublingthe existing storage capacity.

Designed as a one-stop service point for Seagate, customers and suppliers, the facility isequipped with a UPS warehouse management system to ensure efficient operations of Seagate’sproduction lines. Beyond Thailand, UPS currently manages contract logistics services for Seagatethroughout Asia, with major operations in Singapore and China.

“This facility is fully operated by UPS and is a testament to our long-term commitment tosupporting growth in the region,” Edmund Lo, managing director of UPS Thailand, said. “As astrategic business enabler, we will continue to leverage our global logistics expertise and networkto help companies – like Seagate – trade in a global marketplace for business success.”

Piangruetai Sivaratana, vice president of Korat Operations, Seagate Technology (Thailand) Ltd.,said: “Flexibility is a key of hard disk drive business and the demand is changing rapidly. Thisfacility will support our business activities by simplifying global trade movements and optimisingsupply chain efficiency to meet the needs of our global customers.”

According to the UPS survey “2013 Change in the Chain”, Asian high-tech companies areincreasingly focusing on improving their supply chain capabilities and reducing lead times.
