British parcel delivery firm Yodel has launched a new C2C service called ‘YodelDirect’ enablingconsumers and small business owners to arrange collection of one or more parcels from their homes
to be delivered to their friends, family or businesses across the UK.YodelDirect said it is responding to consumer demand for a direct collection service which hasbeen previously available to businesses only and was subject to a minimum annual parcel volume.
Dick Stead, Executive Chairman of Yodel, said: “We are very excited to launch a direct consumercollection and delivery service in response to public demand. While many people, particularlyonline shoppers, may be familiar with receiving parcels via Yodel, this is the first time that theycan directly access our service to send parcels themselves.”
“The launch of YodelDirect opens up a whole new market and makes Yodel’s services available notjust to consumers wanting to send a birthday present, but also to online marketplace sellers,entrepreneurs and small businesses. It’s a hassle-free alternative for busy people who don’t havetime to wait in a Post Office queue.”
Service options include next-day and two-day delivery, Northern Ireland and ‘Highland andIslands’ delivery services. All of those are fully trackable, including proof of delivery andinsurance up to the value of £20 per parcel as standard.
Yodel said that its simple pricing structure avoids the confusion of some competitors’ servicesenabling shippers who send one or more parcels to benefit from a discount, which increases with thenumber of packages being collected at any time.
Customers can book collections online via yodeldirect.co.uk without having to set up an account.Through a few simple steps, the website generates an address label and barcode for them to beprinted and attached to the parcel. Orders placed before 10pm will be collected the next workingday and the pick-up confirmed by email.
Yodel delivers over 150 million parcels a year cooperating with 80% of the UK’s topretailers.
