UK parcel and carrier management specialist Global Freight Solutions (GFS) has won ahigh-profile contract to handle distribution for Liverpool Football Club’s online store.
The relationship has started with GFS handling domestic deliveries of Liverpool’s new home kitfor the 2013-14 Barclays Premier League season, making use of the Enterprise Carrier Management(ECM) system launched last year by GFS.
GFS director Simon Veale described the deal as “a significant coup” that provided furthervindication of his company’s approach.
“Liverpool FC is one of the biggest names in football and has truly global appeal,” hecommented. “It is another huge business which has recognised how the great number of factors inonline retail, including the size, weight, destination and desired delivery date for goods, makesimple, effective multi-carrier systems essential.”
Liverpool FC’s retail sales manager, Chris Jennions, said: “The most important part of the kitlaunch from a distribution perspective is delivering all of our pre-orders on launch day –something which we guarantee globally. We need suppliers who can help us be at the top of our gameand we’re impressed by what we’ve already seen from GFS.”
