Kerry Logistics opens three new centres in China

Asian forwarding and logistics group Kerry Logistics has opened three new logistics centres with acombined total area of 140,000 sqm in Chongqing, Wuxi and Xiamen, as the company continues to

expand its logistics network in China.

“Opening three new logistics centres demonstrates our commitment to our customers in China.We also see that our customers can leverage real competitive advantage from these newstate-of-the-art facilities and our logistics centre network through improved efficiency andreduced inventory costs,” said Edwardo Erni, the company’s managing director for mainland China.

“All of the new facilities are equipped with the latest security and IT systems providingmaximum security and improved tracking and supply chain transparency for our customers,” he added.

Phase 2 of the Chongqing logistics centre opened in February 2013, bringing up the totalarea of the facility to 86,800 sqm through an additional 65,800 sqm. This expansion makes thefacility the largest of the company’s seventeen centres in China. It is to serve as a key hub forthe Western China market and offers the full range of logistics services for several industrysectors, including automotive parts and accessories, pharmaceutical and healthcare, electronics andtechnology.

In Wuxi, Jiangsu province, the company also opened a new 31,400 sqm logistics centre inFebruary 2013. Located near the highway with direct access to Wuxi Shoufang Airport and theShanghai-Nanjing Expressway, the centre provides customers with services in the fields of ordermanagement, VMI to material and parts management, as well as reverse logistics.

The new 42,800 sqm logistics centre in Xiamen was opened in the Haicang Export ProcessingZone in April 2013 in order to tap into the booming trade across the strait. The facility targetselectronics and technology customers with services for in-transit assembling, postponementlogistics and RMA. Also, it offers fashion and retail brands services such as GOH, price/securitytagging and gift packing and targets the food and beverage industry through expiry date printing,QC, stock taking, labelling and packing services.

To further expand its network of 17 facilities in China, Kerry Logistics is currentlyconstructing even more centres as part of its ongoing Asia network expansion. The Hong Kong-basedcompany, with 20,000 employees at 700 offices worldwide, had turnover of nearly US$2.5 billion in2012 from international freight forwarding, express delivery and logistics services.
