DPD appoints Boris Winkelmann as new COO Germany

DPD Germany has named Boris Winkelmann as its new Chief Operating Officer taking over operationalmanagement of DPD GeoPost (Deutschland) GmbH as part of the newly-created post.



Winkelmann will report directly to DPD CEO Arnold Schroven. “Boris Winkelmann combines vastexperience of the industry with in-depth knowledge of DPD and our management,” Schroven explained.“As a result, he is ideally qualified to meet the challenges facing DPD in the future andstrengthen our leadership ambition in the German market.”

In addition to his position as CEO of DPD GeoPost (Germany) GmbH, Schroven will continue todrive forward DPD’s international development. “I’m looking forward to being able to devote myselfmore to strategic tasks in the future with the aim of further enhancing the capacity of DPD’sEuropean network,” he added.

Winkelmann brings 19 years of experience in the express and parcels business. In 1994, hebegan his career at TNT Express headquarters, where he held a number of management positions beforemoving to DPD’s majority shareholder GeoPost in 1999. At GeoPost, a wholly-owned subsidiary ofFrance’s La Poste, Winkelmann was responsible for coordinating the acquisition of majorityshareholding in DPD in Germany, which was successfully completed in 2001.

Over the past 10 years, Winkelmann has built up and managed the online shipping serviceLetMeShip, the leading information and market research service CEP-Research and the M&Aconsulting company ITA Consulting based in Hamburg, Germany. These companies will now be under thesole management of his brother and co-founder Mark Winkelmann.
