DHL Express’ security arrangements at its major hubs around the world have been recognised withcertification for its facilities in Panama and the North Asia hub in Shanghai.
The company’s Panama hub was recently awarded the prestigious Transported Asset ProtectionAssociation (TAPA) ‘A’ security certification, becoming the company’s 200th facility worldwide toachieve that distinction.
“Currently, every one of our major global Hubs and Gateways are all TAPA ‘A’ certified,”said Adrian Whelan, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Customs and Security at DHL Express. “In addition to our Panama Hub, we recently achieved certification of our new North Asia Hub atPudong International Airport in Shanghai, China. We are proud to be the global leader in terms ofsupply chain security and we shall continue to invest in order to fulfill our customers and ourregulators’ security requirements.”
The internationally recognised TAPA certification is widely considered one of the mostrigorous independent logistics and supply chain security certifications and an industry benchmark.TAPA ensures a best-in-class standardised and harmonised risk mitigation approach to minimiselosses and risk within the supply chain. TAPA Freight Security Requirements (FSR’s) have beenestablished by security professionals within the high value and high risk product sector. These aimto address the processes and procedures by which goods are handled, warehoused and transported asthey move throughout the global supply chain. The requirements were initiated in the United Statesin 1997 and were enhanced in 2011.
Throughout the Americas region, 20 DHL Express facilities have been TAPA-certified since2010. These include sites in the United States and Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica,Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Uruguay. Two other DHL business units – DHL Global Forwarding andDHL Supply Chain – also operate TAPA-certified facilities in various countries in the Americasregion.
