PostNord has completed the acquisition of the Norwegian logistics company Harlem Transport,initially announced in September, complementing its existing operations in Norway and strengthening
its existing operations in the country’s growing logistics market.The Swedish-Danish postal group has bought 100% of the shares in Harlem Transport, which itdescribes as a ‘well-established transport and logistics company in Norway’. It focuses on fourmain areas, including consumer goods, industry, shipping, and recycling and waste.
With a strong position as a logistics supplier to the consumer goods sector, Harlem Transportcounts several major companies from that industry among its customers. In 2011, it generated salesof NOK 292 million (€39 million) and employs 211 staff.
Henrik Höjsgaard, head of PostNord’s Logistics business area, said: “Customers and employeesalike are warmly welcomed to PostNord. PostNord’s logistics operations in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland generate annual sales ofapproximately SEK 13 billion (€1.51 billion), with the focus on parcel, pallet, express andthird-party logistics. The company operates its logistics operations through its subsidiaryTollpost Globe, which it says is one of Norway’s three largest logistics companies with salesamounting to NOK 2.7 billion (€361 million) in 2011. With 900 employees and 700 drivers, it handlesaround 60,000 parcels every day.
Formed through the merger of Post Danmark and the Swedish postal operator Posten AB in 2009,PostNord has around 40,000 employees and annual sales of about SEK 40 billion (€4.64 billion).
