Braspress opens new São Paulo depot

Braspress, the expanding Brazilian express and logistics company, has opened its seventh depotin São Paulo, the country’s economic capital, to increase its capacity and to help cope with

congestion in the urban region.

The new logistics centre covers an area of 11,000 sqm and comprises a 3,200 sqm building with 25loading doors for trucks and vans. Some 174 staff work at the new centre where a fleet of 56vehicles will be based.

Braspress’ CEO Urubatan Helou explained that the new facility would help the company to copewith the congestion in the urban region and would “contribute decisively to the reduction of theimpact caused by the urban chaos experienced daily in the state capital”.

“The difficulties of urban mobility in São Paulo are enormous, and require Braspress to makecontinuous investments and display plenty of creativity,” he commented.  The new facilitywould create the company to improve its productivity, he pointed out.

The new São Paulo depot, known as Centro de Apoio Operacional ABC in Portuguese, will beresponsible for deliveries in seven cities in the Greater Sao Paulo area: Santo Andre, SaoBernardo, Sao Caetano, Diadema, Maua, Ribeirao Pires and Rio Grande da Serra.

The company, which already has six depots in the region, has expanded its nationwide networkthis year with five new depots to date, giving it a network of 108 facilities. Braspress, which isbased in São Paulo, has more than 6,000 employees, about 2,000 sub-contractors and a fleet of 1,200vehicles.
