TNT recognised for sustainability, secure operations

TNT Express has been recognised this month for its worldwide sustainability activities andsecure operations in the Middle East.

The company scored a high 87 points out of 100 in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index 2012, aninternational sustainability ranking system run by Dow Jones and SAM Group. TNT achieved 100% infuel efficiency, risk and crisis management, environmental policy/management system and humancapital development.

In the last few years, TNT Express has restructured and decentralised its corporateresponsibility programmes integrating them in its daily operations with the priorities to protectemployees, for example, by preventing road accidents and to maximise operational efficiency.

Separately, the company’s TAPA certification in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates hasbeen renewed for 2012-2014. Technology Asset Protection Association (TAPA) is a global forum ofsecurity, insurance and logistics professionals established to ensure the safe and securetransport, storage and warehousing of TAPA members assets throughout the world.

TAPA-certified companies must pass a detailed independent physical premises audit to ensurecompliance with numerous Freight Security Requirements (FSRs) for warehouses, distribution centres,and consolidation facilities, as well as specifying minimum security measures for drivers.
