TNT Express and Bartolini have both opened new depots in Italy to strengthen their networks inthe country.
The Dutch-based express company opened a new depot in Arezzo, central Italy, replacing twosmaller nearby locations. The new depot, with an automated sorting system, has 2,500 sqm ofoperational space as well as 750 sqm of office space. A total of 46 people work at the newsite.
TNT Express Italy Regional Business Manager, Roberto Savocchi, said the new depot was astrategic investment to better serve customer needs and stressed the branch was growing, especiallyin international business, despite the economic crisis in the country.
The company also opened new premises in Lecco, north of Bergamo in northern Italy. The 2,310 sqmbranch, employing 30 people, also replaces a smaller facility.The third new depot is a 2,000 sqmfacility at Empoli, close to Florence, employing 22 people.
Meanwhile, Italian express and parcels operator Bartolini this week moved its branch at Cesena,close to Rimini, to a larger facility on a 24,000 sqm site to serve the surrounding areas.
