Australia Post CEO and Managing Director Ahmed Fahour has announced that the Digital MailBox, asecure means of digital communication for both private and business purposes, will launch in
October 2012.The service, for which several partners including Westpac, Telstra and AMP have already signedup, comprises a personal digital vault to upload and access important documents from any location,as well as a secure channel for making payments and official exchanges.
During a speech at the Victorian Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VECCI), Fahourcommented on the latest additions to the list of participants in the service: “Australia Post has aproud track record of being the trusted intermediary that connects businesses and consumers and theDigital MailBox extends that relationship into the digital world. The fact we have three ofAustralia’s most well-known and iconic companies eager to use the Digital MailBox to connect toconsumers is an endorsement of Australia Post’s capability as an innovative communicationsprovider.”
“The MailBox will enable consumers to receive and pay bills, track and manage theirrelationships with their providers and store all of their important documents in one place. It’seasily accessed with one password, from any internet enabled device, 24/7, from anywhere in theworld. But most importantly, Australians can trust that their information is safe, stored securelyin an Australian based cloud, provided by Telstra,” he stressed.
Westpac General Manager Investments & Business Partnering Les Vance said: “We’re excited tobe working with Australia Post to provide our customers with choice in how they engage with us.From early next year Westpac customers that sign up to the service will also be able to accesstheir financial information through the Digital Mailbox at a time that’s convenient for them.”
