Leading Colombian express courier company Servientrega has unveiled plans to invest $150 millionover the next three years in a new parcels, financial and office services network under the name
Redservi.The 30-year-old family-owned company, which provides domestic and international express andfreight delivery services, has launched RedServi in cooperation with several other servicecompanies to provide small businesses and consumers with an alternative to post offices. Presidentof Redservi is Augusto Roa Piedrahíta, formerly head of Mail Boxes Etc in Colombia.
Servientrega founder and president Jesús Guerrero told Colombian media that Redservi “is anetwork of networks, enabling payments and shipments to be made with greater ease and across theentire country”.
A key service will be money transfers (branded as ‘Mandaplata’) while other services willinclude parcel shipping, transmission of secure e-mails, mobile phone recharging and payment ofpublic utility bills.
The $150 million investment will focus on retail outlets, delivery vehicles and other necessaryassets. The company aims to expand the initial 3,000 Redservi branches to a network of 10,000outlets by 2014. The network comprises the branches of the partner organisations, including severalfinancial services organisations, local couriers and a drugstore chain.
Servientrega has a delivery fleet of more than 2,000 vehicles and several planes operating incompany colours along with a network of 10 regional logistics centres.
