UK online delivery company Parcel2Go, which offers C2C parcel shipping for consumers andoccasional small business customers, has now urged small companies to use its web-based shipping
platform as an alternative to Royal Mail following this year’s price increases by the UKstate-owned postal operator.By registering with Parcel2Go, customers will be able to tackle Royal Mail’s price increases, “profiting from a transparent choice of different service providers”, the company claimed. Thewebsite features major parcel operators such as FedEx, Parcelforce and Yodel, with services rangingfrom next-day express to slower and cheaper parcel delivery within the UK.
Royal Mail has recently raised its mail and parcel prices to boost revenues after gaininggreater pricing freedoms under Britain’s new ‘light touch’ regulatory system, prompting protestsfrom business and consumer groups. The price of its first-class stamp increased by 30% from 46p to60p (€0.56 to €0.74) and the price of a Second Class stamp for a standard letter from 36p to 50p.For small packages, the UK postal operator has introduced a flat price (up to 750g), with FirstClass packets costing £2.70 and Second Class packets £2.20.
Parcel2Go claimed that shipping consignments with a weight of over 750g will be cheaper forcustomers via its parcel delivery platform compared to Royal Mail following its recent priceincreases for parcel delivery.
Parcel2Go’s marketing director Richard Mercer said: “We understand how much pressure consumersand small businesses are under at the moment, which is why we are urging people to see if they areable to get a better deal on their package deliveries through the Parcel2Go website.

Parcel2Go also features Collect+, the UK’s innovative parcel delivery and returns service, whichhas become very popular through the high levels of convenience it offers. Customers who are notable to meet a courier to pick up their package can choose instead to drop it off at one of the3,000 corner shops and convenience stores in the UK that make up the Collect+ network.
