DHL Express has made its largest investment in Thailand in recent years with the opening of a €2.7million distribution centre in Bangkok to cater for rising demand for international express
services.Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the new 1,728 sqm Rama 3 Distribution Centre (Rama 3)is DHL Express Thailand’s seventh distribution centre in the Bangkok area and has the capability toprocess up to 3,000 shipments per day.

With this new distribution centre, we are now closer to our customersin Bangkok’s main business zones, including the Silom and Sathorn areas, and can serve them better.This latest investment underscores our strong commitment to growing our business locally and to tapon the vast growth opportunity in the country.”

Rama 3 is the first DHL Express distribution centre in Thailand to use state-of-the-artequipment such as the Dual Weight Dimension Length (WDL) tool for the re-weight process. With amaximum output of 600 pieces per hour, the new scanner will increase the rate of data transfer thusimproving overall efficiency and reduces turnaround time. The new distribution centre will alsodouble up as the office for the customer service data entry team, where the team will control andcentralise all shipment orders from other distribution centers. This will reduce processing timeand increase the throughput at Rama 3.
In keeping with DHL’s commitment to increase its carbon efficiency by 30 per cent in 2020,energy efficient lighting and the incorporation of power-save options in equipment are someexamples of energy-saving initiatives implemented at the Rama 3 Distribution Center. With theseinitiatives in place, DHL Express Thailand hopes to do its part for environment by reducing theoverall energy consumption at the new facility.
