Geodis partners with Buytrago in Spain and Portugal

Geodis is now cooperating with trucking company Buytrago in Spain and Portugal after ending itsagreement with former partner Azkar.



The French group announced that it has signed an exclusive three-year partnership contractwith the Spanish company Buytrago as part of its European expansion plans. Geodis had worked withAzkar since selling its own Spanish operations to that company in 2009.

Geodis Calberson now relies on Buytrago for distribution from and to Spain and Portugal,while Buytrago relies on Geodis Calberson for deliveries across Europe. Pooling the two networksensures harmonious service quality for the benefit of all customers.

Buytrago claims to be the third-largest domestic network in Spain, delivering goods in 24-48hours. It employs 1,900 people and handles an annual average of 5.5 million shipments via a networkof over 60 depots and with a fleet of 900 vehicles.

The partnership has been implemented gradually in countries where Geodis handles its owngroupage business, starting in the UK on 9 January 2012 and followed by Italy on 1 February andBelgium and France on 2 April.

The partnership is part of Geodis’ strategy to develop its distribution activity in Europeand consistent with the company’s objective to have European business account for 30 per cent ofglobal revenue by 2016.
