FedEx Express has expanded capacity and enhanced transit times in key Northern European marketswith the introduction of four B757 freighters on routes from the European air hub at Paris Charles
de Gaulle to eight major airports.The four new aircraft now offer next-business-day services to FedEx Express customers in Osloand significantly improve services for customers in Sweden, Finland, UK and the Netherlands, mostnotably through faster transit times, as well as extended cut-off times. The B757s, with 22 tonnescapacity, have replaced two slower feeder services operated by smaller regional aircraft as well asan Airbus A300 and are operating four times a week.
The new combined Birmingham-Manchester service replaces two separate feeder services, with theBelfast feeder now routed to Birmingham. The new Amsterdam-Oslo service replaces an Amsterdamfeeder and extends the route to Oslo.
In Sweden and Finland, FedEx Express now operates a B757 service to Stockholm and Helsinki and aseparate service to Copenhagen. These replace the former Copenhagen-Stockholm combined route, andadd Helsinki as a new flight destination.
FedEx said that with the extra capacity of the B757s customers along the routes can also nowtake advantage of the extended reliability, connectivity and quality of FedEx next-business-dayservices for heavyweight freight shipments of between 68kg and 1,000kg to a large number ofdestinations. Most notably, this service improvement enables customers to ship overnight,customs-cleared and door-to-door to the U.S. East Coast, a unique service in Sweden, Finland andNorway. Nordic and UK exporters will also have extended next-day coverage to EuroOnedestinations.
For inbound services, deliveries to Norway will now arrive one business day earlier, whilecut-off times for outbound services from Oslo improve by up to two hours, allowing customers moretime to prepare their shipments. Additionally, shipping times are also set to improve in andout of Birmingham, Helsinki and Stockholm as well as their surrounding areas.
