Swedish-Danish postal operator PostNord today sold its night express businesses HIT StarintexB.V (Netherlands) and HIT Belgium SA to Germany’s Hellmann Worldwide Logistics in order to focus on
its core Nordic business activities.The transaction, for an undisclosed sum, includes all the activities of the two companies whilethe company name HIT will remain the property of PostNord. Their revenues and volumes were notdisclosed.
The Dutch and Belgian firms will be re-branded as Night Star Express Hellmann. In Germany,Hellmann is one of seven shareholders in Night Star Express, a franchise network of regionaloperators that delivers some four million shipments a year.
“This is completely in line with the strategy of PostNord, being the preferred partner forCommunication and Logistics services, to / from and within the Nordic Region,” said HenrikHöjsgaard, Head of PostNord’s Logistics division.
Patrick Loewenthal, CEO of HIT Starintex and HIT Belgium, stressed the importance of thetransaction for HIT Innight activities in Europe. “I am looking forward to be working together withthe new colleagues within Hellmann Worldwide Logistics and the Night Star Express Group to developstrong products for our current and potential customers.”

PostNord, formed by the merger of the Swedish Posten AB and Post Danmark in 2009, offerscommunication and logistics solutions to, from and within the Nordic region, with sales ofapproximately SEK 42 billion and over 40,000 employees. Hellmann, primarily an international airand sea freight forwarder, has annual revenues of €2.65 billion and more than 9,000 employees atover 200 branches around the world.
