E-letter from Deutsche Post reaches one million registered users

Deutsche Post DHL has registered one million users for its new online letter service in Germanyin the 16 weeks after the official launch of the ‘E-Postbrief’.

Jürgen Gerdes, mail and parcels chief of Deutsche Post, commented: “One million registered usersshow that this product meets a growing demand.”

Meanwhile, more than 60% of German citizens are familiar with the e-letter. Since the beginningof September, its degree of popularity increased even further – by 11 points to 62%, according to arepresentative survey conducted by the German market research institute TNS Emnid. “For a newproduct launch, this is an impressive figure. We are all the more delighted as our company is thefirst one to launch such a product on the market,” Gerdes said.

The new product, providing secure electronic communication, also continuous to be popular popular in the fields of finance and administration. More than 100 large companies and agencies arealready contracting partners of the E-Postbrief, and in the coming weeks, they will be linked tothe technical platform of the e-letter.

From 2 November, the e-letter postal is also accessible to small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs), and Deutsche Post said it had informed more than 2,500 SMEs about when and how to register.Standard internet access is enough to be able to use the e-letter, without any need to invest inany hardware or software, Deutsche Post added.

An online letter costs exactly the same as a traditional letter, 55 euro cents, whether userschoose for their letter to be delivered electronically to another E-Postbrief account or printedout by Deutsche Post and delivered by the mail carrier.
