FedEx Express has launched its second B777 freighter route from China with four weekly
This second route, from Tuesday through Friday, follows the launch of the first B777 freighterroute from Shanghai in January this year.
“The launch of the 777F in Shenzhen supports our efforts to deliver convenient, efficient andhigh-quality service to our customers in southern China,” said Wilson Chung, vice president ofFedEx Express International Priority Operations, FedEx China. “We now offer a direct flight fromShenzhen to our super hub in Memphis, USA. Flying directly to the super hub puts our customers’packages into the US network much faster and helps promote international trade in Southern China.”& amp; amp; amp; amp; amp; amp; lt; /p>
Due to its expanding international trade, Shenzhen has been a FedEx gateway for Southern Chinafor a long time. According to the Shenzhen Customs District, the city’s total import and exportvolume in September amounted to $33.63 billion, the highest on the record, indicating ayear-on-year increase of 29.7% for September. This is 5% higher than the increased rate of theChina’s total import and export volume during the same period, FedEx explained.
Import and export volumes in Guangdong which is China’s most prosperous province are alsoincreasing steadily. According to the statistics of the Commerce Ministry of the People’s Republicof China, Guangdong’s total import and export volumes in September totalled $73.9 billion equallinga year-on-year increase of 22% for September, which again broke the province’s highest record.
FedEx stressed that it continuously provides unparalleled connectivity and delivery services toChina customers. Because of the larger cargo capacity, FedEx strategically placed the second 777Fin Shenzhen to serve the booming southern China market and offer practical solutions for theincreasing shipping needs.
FedEx Express said it is the first US-based, global, all-cargo freight airline to add the 777Fto its fleet which is the world’s largest twin-engine cargo aircraft. By November 2010, it willhave eight 777Fs serving routes between Asia and the U.S. By the end of 2018, FedEx will deploy 25777Fs, 11 of which have already been delivered.
