DPD UK has won an environmental award from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport(CILT) in recognition of its efforts to reduce its CO2 emissions and for the company’s recycling
programmes.“This is a fantastic recognition of how we carry out great environmental practices whilemaintaining the highest levels of customer service,” said Dwain McDonald, CEO of DPD UK. “We’redelighted with this acknowledgement. We were the first company in the parcels sector to invest inhigh volume, double-deck vehicles to transport parcels using fewer vehicles. We are particularlypleased that this best practice is now being adopted elsewhere as it is great news for theenvironment.”
DPD UK said that it will continue its green innovations in the future. DPD and its sisterfranchise organisation Interlink are the only parcel carriers offering advanced text notificationof delivery with an option for the receiver to change delivery to a more convenient date, it noted.
“Not only does this mean great customer service”, McDonald adds, “it is good for theenvironment as more right-first-time deliveries are made and fewer delivery journeys mean less fueland lower carbon emissions.”
