Itella Logistics, which covers the parcel and freight transport activities of Finland’s ItellaGroup, will merge its businesses in Denmark and Sweden to be headed under common management from 1
October to strengthen its position in Scandinavia.The new division will be lead by the newly appointed Managing Director Jørn Johansen who hasbeen working as the Area Director for Scandinavia until now.
“By combining our businesses in Denmark and Sweden we will enlarge our business possibilitiesand become a larger player in the market. Under common management we can take mutual advantage ofour resources, share knowledge and pool competences to benefit our customers,” he said.
In the beginning of this month, Itella Logistics signed a cooperation agreement with themulti-modal provider Mainfreight USA to strengthen its position in the USA. The deal withMainfreight USA covers all eight Itella Logistics homeland countries focusing on road, air and seafreight forwarding as well as warehousing services.
Itella Logistics has over 30 offices in eight countries including Finland, Sweden, Denmark,Norway, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Russia providing global services through its partners. In2010, the net sales of Itella Logistics equalled €677 million. It employs 7,700 people in totalwith 250 staff in Denmark and 150 people in Sweden.
