TNT Express UK has extended its depot at Thetford, Eastern England, to increase capacity andbetter serve express delivery needs of customers.
The enlarged depot with 21 new loading bays significantly increases TNT’s capacity to handlemore and more parcels and consignments. The volumes at the facility are expected to increase byabout 3,000 to 8,000 deliveries a day. 160 people are currently employed at Thetford, in the countyof Norfolk.
The construction of the extended facility started last March including a new mezzanine floor anda further 21 delivery doors and the £400,000 refurbishment of the depot’s vehicle maintenanceunit.
Alistair Cochrane, Managing Director TNT Express Services UK & Ireland, confirmed that TNTwas now fully equipped to meet the needs of its customers across the region. “This secures both ourfuture in Thetford and that of the employees for many years to come. It has been long overdue andgives us 21 extra doors and the capacity for growth in the future.”
“Thetford is our fifth largest delivery depot across the UK and we have got to the point wherewe need to operate more vehicles and doors. There are 5,000 deliveries a day and this gives us thecapacity to expand on this by another 3,000 in the future,” he added.
