German night express operator Night Star Express has continued its strong growth rate in thefirst half of this year.
The company said it increased shipment volumes by 10% over the first six months of 2011 whichwas higher than the expected growth for the overall German CEP market. In 2010, it increasedvolumes by 14% to four million shipments. Revenue figures are not released.
Managing director Matthias Hohmann said growth was being driven by the generally good economy. “Shipment volumes are clearly rising with our existing customers,” he commented. Demand forcross-border ‘after sales’ logistics in Europe was also increasing, he added.
Night Star Express was responding to stronger demand by increasing its capacity, Hohmann said. “With the introduction of our new hub at Hünfeld at the start of 2010 we already made an importantinvestment in good time to ensure our quality and for the benefit of our customers,” he added.
Investment would continue this year with moves into larger sorting terminals at two otherbranches, he said. Hohmann said he expected the positive trend to continue in the second half ofthe year.
