Hermes, Europe’s largest B2C delivery company, has expanded its operations in the UK, opening a newdistribution hub in Warrington, north-western England, a new depot in Crawley, West Sussex, and an
expanded site in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.The company said that this latest network expansion would help to support its growthstrategy, while improving service for customers.
The northern distribution hub is located at the Warrington South Distribution Park andprovides 9,000 sqm of warehousing space. The facility replaces an existing site in Bradford,providing a better strategic location for its depot network and significantly reducing mileage andjourney times for the trunking operation.
The new depot in Crawley will start operating in September, increasing the network of Hermesto 20 sites in the UK, while creating 34 new jobs. The 4,000 sqm facility will handle the parcelvolumes in the south-east of England that are expected to increase as a result of growing businessactivity from a number of new and existing clients. The depot is also expected to improve servicelevels and operating efficiencies within the southern region.
In addition, Hermes is relocating to a new site in Rotherham as a result of recent businessgrowth. The 3,300 sqm warehouse will replace an existing smaller depot in the region and provideeasy access to the motorway network.
