DHL Express helps promote civil aviation in Bahrain

DHL Express is partnering with Bahrain’s Civil Aviation Affairs (CAA) department for itsparticipation later this month in the world’s largest aviation event, the Paris Air Show.

The Bahrain CAA will showcase and promote the country’s aviation sector, including theforthcoming Bahrain International Airshow, which will be held at the Sakhir Air Base in January2012.

Ian Carey, vice president of aviation for the Asia Pacific, East Europe, Middle East and Africaregion at DHL Express, commented: “We are delighted to support the Bahrain CAA in promoting theKingdom of Bahrain as an aviation hub to the rest of the world. DHL is a strong part of Bahrain’saviation history. DHL Express has been here for 30 years and has based its Middle East air networkoperations in Bahrain for 18 years.”

Capt Abdulraham Al Gaoud, Undersecretary for Civil Aviation Affairs, highlighted the importanceof the event as it gathers together key industry figures from the aviation world.

DHL added that Bahrain is a very important point of connectivity for its global network. Eachweek, almost 100 flights are operated on behalf of DHL to and from the kingdom. These includeregional and long-haul intercontinental flights.

“In the last couple of years, DHL has made a significant investment in its air network,particularly in its dedicated intercontinental network services. As a direct result, we have seen amarked increase in the number of flights operated to and from Bahrain. With this ramp up ofactivity, Bahrain has become an even more important element of our global network,” Careyconcluded.
