DHL Japan has opened five new service points for package drop-off in the northern city ofNiigata bringing the total number to 141 locations across the country.
Niigata, the capital and the most populous city of Niigata Prefecture, lies on the northwestcoast of Honshu, the largest island of Japan. It is a prefecture with thriving machinery andchemical products trade and with many international students, where internationalisation isprogressing rapidly due to the increase in the number of foreign residents and entries via NiigataAirport.
Four of the five new service points will be operated in partnership with Niigata Travel, atravel company providing international and domestic tours, using regular flights to and fromNiigata Airport. Through this agreement, DHL services will now be available at four Niigata Travellocations and an additional service point will be located at the Niigata Station South shop whichoperates under the brand name Hankoyasan21. This raises the number of service points in the NiigataPrefecture from one to six expanding the network in the region.
By partnering with Niigata Travel and its accessible locations in shopping arcades near stationsand shopping centres, DHL can provide customers with more convenient services within its extensiveglobal network which connects over 220 countries and territories.
The six service points in Niigata not only accept shipments from account holders and generalcustomers but also offer the service DHL EXPRESS EASY which includes three box sizes with asimplified fee scale according to destination zone (Asia Pacific, America or Europe/Other). Fixedrates insulate DHL EXPRESS EASY users from the impact of fluctuating jet fuel surcharges.Additionally, customers profit from DHL’s environmentally friendly carbon neutral service throughwhich CO2 emissions will be offset by certified climate protection projects such as biomass plantsand wind farms.
